2007 Predictions
POSTED AT 04:06 on 2nd January 2007
In response to Neil Patel’s list of predictions for 2007 here are some that I will throw out and we will wait and see if any come close to being true :)
1) Facebook will either be bought for between $2-3 billion or will be the first major web company to take the IPO path since go daddy backed down from theirs in 2006.
2) The Microsoft Zune will continue to flop until somebody releases a 3rd party firmware update that includes a browser and other tools that make use of the wi-fi connection.
3) The Apple iTV will launch and bring videocasts and online media into the living room and the general public will take note of this new media.
4) A new company will start a social network that all the current teenagers will jump straight onto and leave MySpace in a slump. The new service will have all the viral aspects of MySpace and allow people to customise their pages into all kind of crappy layouts and add video/audio and pictures at the click of a button.
5) Digg will fall into a slump within the Tech community for alienating its top users and for just having too many stories for people to filter through. A new company will emerge that will offer custom created news based on the users interests and other users votes (basically Digg with a Bayesian filter for each user to offer directly targeted news).
