Word Count Journal
POSTED AT 09:14 on 2nd January 2007
I just saw the post over at mashable about Word Count Journal – a new site that takes a new look at blogging and encourages users to write one word on the first day, two words the next day, then three, then four etc. I like the idea of this, as it would allow users to slowly get into the habit of writing daily before they felt strong enough about blogging to move onto a full blogging service like wordpress.com or vox etc. The service would also make a lot of sense for kids who are learning to write and would allow the child to progress through the year and I’m sure that parents would even pay for this kind of service for their kids – allowing only them and family to read the posts and then keep them as a memento of their kids year.
Ever since reading Microserfs Ive always thought about setting up a system to post a word or two at a time throughout the day to show a general overview of the day. It would be kind of like a quick diary or random thought keeper. For those of you who havent read Microserfs – there are periodical full pages throughout the book of just single words or phrases of how the character is feeling or involved in to give extra insight without having to describe it within the prose.

Hi! We wanted to launch on 1 Jan, and ended up having to defer a feature that was 99% done, so you should see it coming soon, and that is support for groups. This will primarily target schools and families, and provide a number of privacy levels.
Be sure to let us know any other enhancements you’d like to see.
