I love CD Baby

CD Baby is a company that just gets things right! They know how to interact with their customers to give the best possible service and I love them because of it.
A few weeks ago I got an email from them to notify that an artist that i’ve bought CD’s from in the past was releasing a new album and they thought I would like to know.
Boom straight onto their site and they got a sale!
I love it when sites use the data that i’ve given them to sell me more stuff and I wish that more sites did it better and more frequently. For example I have been shopping on Amazon for around 6 years and have spent £1000’s on hundreds of items, so by now they have a pretty good picture of what I like, how much I like to spend and how often I buy stuff. But they just never seem to use this data to their advantage.
I would love to get an email from amazon every 2-3 months reminding me that I havent bought anything from my wish list in 3 months and that maybe I should treat myself, because 9 out of 10 times I would see that email and buy something straight away.
Back to the original point of the post. I love CD baby. Simple interface, great checkout choices (you can choose to get the CD’s without jewel cases and so save on shipping) and fantastic customer support and follow-up. CD Baby are a great example of how online shopping should be done.

I have the scary feeling that you’re not kidding.

Do you work for CD-Baby, on their payroll, or are you just a ridiculously prolific consumer that basis his/her existence on the amount of money they spend and materials they purchase?!

No I don’t work for CD Baby or have anything to do with them, I just think that they have created a great service and that others should learn from.
I wouldn’t say that I’m a prolific consumer, but more of somebody who likes to keep up to date with new products and services. Which I currently do by visiting hundreds of blogs and websites and see the lack of e-commerce solutions providing this data as a missed opportunity on their part.

I agree with your opinion about CD-baby. I only bought a CD once, but it was surpised by the personal touch and sense of humor of the mails they sent me.
