Repairing a broken mbox file

I thought that email had been a bit quiet over the last few days and it turns out it was because my mbox file was corrupt. New mail could be appended to the end but Mail.app and Thunderbird couldn’t read it. After searching around the web I found the following command that fixed it in about 15 seconds.
- formail -ds <broken_mbox >>fixed_mbox
Now its just a case of catching up with 1000 unread messages!
